This blog shuffled into life 10 years ago today. The first post was inevitably a tad meta, but it also had room for Murakami, pencils and vodka. In fact, I wonder whether I should have called it Pencils and Vodka.
I had the vague notion that the blog would be a record of what I was reading and watching and listening to, but it quickly took a detour. Still, just for old time’s sake...

Have you worked out how old Helen Mirren will be in ten years?
I hope you have managed to stop her from trespassing in your pool by then.
Ms Mirren will still be older than me, and will still be a better swimmer and have a far nicer bum.
I had much the same notion about my blog, but it veered off course almost at once. I also believed it would be completely anonymous, which lasted little longer than that. Happy anniversary.
