I think the Redskins were interesting because of all the soul-influenced white UK acts of the 1980s, they were the only ones that didn't feel the need to sand off their rough edges (cf Style Council, Simply Red, Blow Monkeys, etc) even when they were on a major label (think this was their first single on a major). Add to that their in-yer-face Trotskyism and they were an unusual beast, to say the least.
