Jean Baudrillard, philosopher, sociologist and cultural theorist, pioneer of the simulacrum and hyperreality, died yesterday at the age of 77. And yes, as Joel pointed out a few months ago, he does indeed look quite like Stanley Baxter.

I can't think of a smart arsed comment here - just safer to agree with Valerie and say end of an era.
Baudrillard and Stanley Baxter ... now I'm getting unwelcome and (in the circumstances) possibly disrespectful images of old Jean in drag, clowning around in his Christmas special.
Will be missed.

I saw Stanley Baxter the other week, painfully parking his gigantic car in sow motion in Muswell Hill. Two seconds after leaving it he thought better of it and decided to move it. No ballgowns were involved.
