Didn't it go on as:

"Stand up and say that Tony!".

"I am standing up!".

She should be so lucky.

"If ladies who are quite attractive throw themselves at one it is very difficult to resist," he said, when asked about his inability to remain faithful.

How could anything said by such a cad be considered hurtful or even taken seriously?

Is that a manicurist for Jews or a manicurist who is Jewish?

And what's so unattractive about Jewish manicurists?

So, was the hate dependent on the Jewish manicurist bit? Or was it a statement of fact accompanied by unrelated hatred?

Exactly. Clearly the world is not yet quite ready for the revelation that the late Pss (to use Queen Victoria's abbreviation) Margaret actually was a Jewish manicurist. I understand she did ears as well, and maybe other significant minor operations.

How many manicurists had he even *seen* - and why.

I'm sure Lord Snowdon is cock-a-hoop over the depth of semiotic analysis to which his words are being subjected.

But I wondered if he's worried about that time he compared his sister-in-law to a Ukrainian potato farmer...
