Almost getting into political-correctness-gone-mad-territory here, but I think I remember to step back from the brink at the last moment:
"It had been a long time since Iain Duncan Smith caused tea to shoot out of my nose, but he managed it on Tuesday. He was on the Today programme, discussing his amendment to the human fertilisation and embryology bill, which would have forced IVF clinics to acknowledge the need for fathers.
In tune with the caring face of Cameronism, IDS denied that this was a lesbian-bashing exercise; indeed, he declared that his amendment was just as relevant to 'the heterosexual community'.
That's when the Ceylon hit the keyboard..."

Most amusing Tim. Thank you for sharing that with the blogging community!
Interesting, and an interesting (and not too mad and aggressive) comment thread. I've been thinking about that Thatcher quote a lot recently, I don't think they'd ever confess it but New Labour definitely took it on board.
And the word community is usually used as a stick to beat people with these days, (though IDS doesn't seem to have picked up on that) as one of the CiF commenters pointed out, "the Muslim community... need to rein in their extremist elements..."
I like the picture. Is he puckering? I feel strangely aroused.
I'm glad it found favour with the canine community, Murph.
Oh it's clear what she meant, Annie. You can tell the real diehard Thatcherites, because they'll admit it proudly.
There's something strangely camp about IDS, isn't there Vicus. Reptilian too. Like Kaa from The Jungle Book.
Interesting word, community. It's one of the few words that's equally popular with the right and left (although they probably intend very different things by it). Maggie's "community charge" was a classic example.
