One of us

Yesterday saw a delightful evening with my old chums Nick and Barney, who are such erudite polymaths (books, paintings, songs, plays and more) that it seems rather reductive to describe them as Dalek operators, but I suspect that's what will appear on their gravestones. Sadly, none of their Dr Who gossip is fit to repeat in the public sphere, but by the end of the evening we had decided that this

should be remade starring these guys:

Which leads, I suppose, to a meme of sorts: pick a film to be reimagined (as is now the preferred terminology) and the band you'd like to see populating it.

Or, if you prefer, just make up something sordid about Dr Who.

Dalek operators? The Daleks are not real? *is shocked*

Um, how about Apocalypse Now as reimagined by Boney M?

Reservoir Dogs starring Devo.

Any Charlie Kaufman movie with Radiohead. no, that's too easy.

Superbad with Radiohead. no, that's impossible.

Sex and the City with Radiohead . . . with the lads in place of the girls. Yes. I would pay to see that.

Or my final idea: Lord of the Rings with Radiohead. Epic, meaningful and with a good role for someone of Thom's short stature - he of course would be Frodo.

The White Stripes in White Zombie.

Annie: I can see Marlon Brando in his death throes, grunting "Oh, those Russians..."

That's good, Geoff. "Q: Do we not tip? A: No, we are Devo!"

Amy: I just want to see Thom haranguing Phil for acquiescing to the mind control of global capitalism and buying those Manolo Blahniks.

Billy: But what film would White Zombie be in? And who would be in Stripes?

Tagging this post under "ugliness" is a little harsh on Dr. Hook, don't you think?

I just want to see Phil WEARING those Manolo Blahniks!

Not at all, Mrs Peel. In fact, I think it rather understates the gravity of the situation.

Amy: I'd like to see Phil wearing Manolo Blahniks, while running one of his marathons (or that fat-arsed waddle from the 'Street Spirit' vid).
