Oh, just admit it, you're blogging again.

Interesting. I had no idea you wrote a book about Aaliyah or that you won the highest ever prize on the Weakest Link.

"My only significant criticism has to do with the typos and proofreading errors, which were present in numbers more typical of a blog than a biography."

...

"His approach is neither scholarly or sensationalistic..."

Neither/nor I was always taught.

Mind you, they were nuns, so I suppose I should take even that with a pinch of salt. Mind you, they spent long enough beating it into me - I suppose there must have been something in it...

Timster; how many times? - Bruce Springsteen is not *dull*.

Worthy, earnest perhaps. But not dull.

You have obviously never heard the first 5 seconds of the song 'Born to Run'. Either that or the sensation of having 4,000 volts wired direct from a cavalcade of Harley-Davidsons into your brain whilst a litre of opium is simultaneously D.Id into your spinal cord fills you with ennui...

(God, I hope it's the latter.....)

Annie: This is just old-style diary stuff. I'm keeping my options open.

And yes to the Aaliyah thing; not sure about the W/Link. I did win, but I've never seen any stats for big takings.

Bob: Born To Run sounds good, and then you listen to the Phil Spector records it's ripping off and it comes over as a bit anaemic. Bit like Meat Loaf. There. Springsteen is no worse than Meat Loaf.

Would love to agree, Spector afficianado that I am, but I think there's something in Springsteen that even Phil the Nutter can't match - literate without coming across as being clever -clever. The line "I'm just a sad and lonely rider and I've gotta know how it feels" always gets me - especially as I mishear it as "sad and lonely *writer*" (which is actually a much better line, come to think of it...)

Yep, on second thougts, you're right - Springsteen sucks; he's not even as good as Bobby Swipe!

;)

Good win in the cup - now they've got to sort themselves out in the league. (And hope Sky coughs up a bit of their TV money) Will you be chipping in now you're coining it as a TV pundit?

Enjoyed the Cohen intervew.
However, your major achievement is omitted from wiki and everywhere.
It is of course - giving outrageous cheek to Anne Robinson, and still winning.

I didn't know Cohen had been shut out of the Beat Generation circle or humiliated by Nico. I must delve into the reasons. It explains a lot.

You WON the Weakest Link? The Weakest Link - you won it? (I am doing a Peter Kay impression). We call Bruce Springsteen 'Loose Windscreen' at Romo Towers. Don't own any of his stuff proper but strangely know all the words to quite a few songs and generally always manage a bit of a singlalong when I do hear him.

"Tim Footman, Weakest Link winner, dies"

Yeah, I can dig it.

Now, *there's* a fun game:

Write Your Own Epitaph!

"Robert Swipe, ignored transvestite, died today, aged..."
This will run and run (..well, it was *Born* to...)
