Flagging

In which I demand the abolition of the United Kingdom. For aesthetic reasons, you understand.

..yes, but haven't we ALL done that at some point?

I'm only interested in seeing the Union flag if it has the Queen's mug (with added safety pin) smeared across it. Viva Jamie Reid.

The Welsh Dragon was the only flag I used to like in my sandcastles. But by the time I got to Wales I was too old to play with the sand.

A Welsh historian no less.

Interestingly (a bit), FN, someone on the thread DH highlights refers to the Welsh as the First Nation of Britain...

Yes, I thought of mentioning that, Anthony. And Morrissey at Finsbury Park...

You're never too old, Geoff (although most of us go through a phase where wrecking sandcastles is the best bit).

This one will run and run, Dick.

Morrissey is staying in Italy. No immigrants there apparently.

Loyalists would need a wee red-hand-of ulster in there somewhere.

Even though it was appropriated by... oh god, shut up Spin.

I was going to moan about the use fo the word 'sheer' but I'll go away instead.

hey tim, just saying hey. i didn't drown in an onsen, just drowned in school. your little note reminds me to pull myself out of the miasma of teacher-work and get back into the serious stuff. like blogging and reading others' blogs.

God, I was tempted to do the Morrissey story, Dick, but it's been running for the best part of two decades. It's as if the NME has been getting out the same crappy set of Christmas fairy lights every year. zzzzzzzzzzzzz

So what would be your preferred flag for NI, Spin? (Apart from the tricolour, of course)

Lovely to hear from you, Amy. You do what's important. The kids can teach themselves.

No, you don't have to apologize to us for listening to those stupid colonials and scrapping the Japan-UK Alliance so many years ago.

Domo arigato, Okumura-san. All the best qualities of your great nation. Functional, stylish and slightly deranged.

NI doesn't need a flag.

Reunification, that's what we want.

God, there's nothing worse than sentimental patriotism from people who haven't actually lived in the auld country for years, shut up Spin.

The Union Jack like the English language is loved and admired all round the world. I can only point out that I had bugger all to do with both.

As you can see I've found a way to get around the less than great fired up wall of the PRC :)

Hurrah!
