The Times is amused that Martin Amis is pulling down 80,000 quid for an annual workload of 28 hours as professor of creative writing at Manchester University. (Although, as a sometime college chum of mine once mused: "What exactly is creative writing? Is there such a thing as destructive writing?")

Uncanny. I wish I knew some good Van/Amis puns.

You will, Billy, you will.
ReplyDeleteI think he's got his eye on a knighthood. Dad didn't say no.
ReplyDeleteyes, but is he as friendly and personable as van? ahem.
ReplyDeleteMart will only be satisfied with a Nobel, Dick.
ReplyDeleteYes he is, FN. That's the tragedy.
