Just watched a documentary about John Irving, where he describes how the US lit establishment looks down on him a bit, because his stuff is plot-driven, very 19th-century, entertaining - very much a guilty pleasure. My current listening is dominated by 19-minute jazz piano renditions of Radiohead tunes.
